The DC Tawang Kemo Lollen apprised the team about the problems faced by the people of Tawang because of the deplorable condition of the road as it is the life link for the people of Tawang. He explained that the delay of the road construction is due poor deployment of manpower and adequate tools and plant. He also urged the DGBR, and JS (G),Secretary BRDR to increase the manpower for expediting the BCT road construction . The Defence Secretary requested them to resolve and expedite the issues with regard to land and forest , which would be of immense help to the people of Tawang in particular and the Nation as a whole.
The DCC Working President Tsering Tashi and BCC President Pema Nawang also briefed the team about the current problems on road communication faced by the public of Tawang. Later Tsering Tashi also presented a memorandum to the Defence Secretary and Director General Border Roads mentioning about the widening of road from Balipara via Charduar to Tawang. The Defence Secretary along with his team members assured them about the matter to be discussed at the higher level, reports DIPRO Tawang.
The Defence Secretary also visited forward posts and interacted with the soldiers at number of places. He also took stock of various infrastructure developments and road construction projects.

We must present our State’s case very forcefully so that enhanced support from the Central government continues to come in during the next Plan period.”

PASIGHAT, Oct 21: Climate change has emerged as the greatest threat facing humankind today, stated the Deputy Commissioner Talem Tapok. He was attending a State Level Seminar on ‘Resource Management and Sustainable Development’ organized at the lower campus auditorium of Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat.
The Chief Guest while referring the changing trend of biodiversity said it affects almost all ecosystems, societies and economies. The long arm of climate change impacts is likely to undermine various fundamental human rights and basic securities including the right to life, food, safe water, health, home, land, properties, livelihoods, employment and development, he added.
Tapok threw light on various ongoing government plans and schemes. He emphasized the role of local communities in forest and biodiversity conservation. Advocating for better human resource development and management, he said such seminar would make aware the common masses about their responsibilities on biodiversity setting good example for the future guardians of the nation. Banggos demands scrapping of mega dam
ITANAGAR, Oct 21: At a meeting conducted at Pessing, West Siang District recently to discuss about the 2700MW Lower Siang Hydro Power Electric Project (LSHEP), several organizations including Adi Baane Kebang has out rightly rejected it.
During the meeting the members under the aegis of Adi Bogum Bokang Kebang unanimously passed and adopted a resolution to stand united and to oppose the proposal for construction of 2700MW Lower Siang Hydro Power Electric Project over River Siang. It was also decided that Riew village Bogum Bokang Kebang resolution will stand as usual.
The house appealed to the state and union governments to immediately issue necessary order for scraping of the 2700MW LSHEP for national safety and security and for welfare of the Dam affected people of Siang basin and its tributaries. It also called upon the Jaypee Arunachal to stop and evacuate all the activities related to LSHEP with immediate effect.
The joint meeting further decided that Dam affected people of Adi and Galo community will actively involve and engage in anti Dam movement rigorously and fight tooth and nail for scrapping of the LSHEP in particular and other Mega hydro project in the Siang River and its tributaries in general to preserve the heritage of the Siang river.
The resolution of the Kebang further assured to provide full supports and protection to the leaders Adi and Galo peoples for their any role and actions in the ongoing Anti Dam Movement. The resolution further stated that it has unanimously resolved to dissolve any self proposed Jaypee sponsored pro Dam organization. Adi Bogum Bokang Kebang, Adi Baane Kebang, Adi Students Union, Dam effected forum of Sirit Banggo, Siyom Banggo, Magong Banggo, Begging Banggo, Dogong Banggo, Nugong Banggo, Yobu Banggo, Kamba Area, Pushi Banggo, PAYWA, Nyiko Banggo, Rotgong Banggo, Bogong Banggo, Legong Banggo, Monggu Padam Banggo attended the meeting.

ITANAGAR, Oct 21: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Arunachal Pradesh in its two days executive body meeting adopted a political resolution demanding invocation of Article 356 (1) with Governor’s rule till normalcy returns in the state. Tawang, Oct 21: An FIR against PWD Lumla has been lodged for alleged negligence after a man lost his life following an accident.
On 17th Oct, Sonam Gyatso (31) a driver of Tawang District Hospital met with accident at the Diversion point to uphill Medical Road of Lumla. Sonam who suffered severe injury died on 18th Oct while on way to hospital at Guwahati for further treatment.
The damaged road has neither been sealed nor was there a warning board placed to ensure safety of commuters.
There are reports that several escaped with minor injuries in past few months and several complaints were lodged with the department for rectification of the road. A family member of the deceased – Tsering Drema said, “We want the law to put those responsible behind bars so that in future they do their job sincerely and that no other family would have to suffer such avoidable loss”.
So far nobody has been arrested in spite of the acceptance of negligence by the department in front of few PRI leaders, OC Lumla and ADC Lumla, said Phurpa Lham along with group of women who are seeking justice.

‘Golden Mahseer’ seeds released in Mehao Lake
ROING, Oct 21: The Directorate of Coldwater Fisheries Research (Indian Council of Agricultural Research), Bhimtal has released 2000 numbers of Golden Mahseer in the “Mehao Lake” near Roing on October 14.
The fish seed were released in the lake by Dr Boni Amin Laskar (recipient of Rufford small grants foundation, London) accompanied by local officials Sibili Linggi, school teacher and Ogo Mena, staff from government fish seed farm, Iduli.
The lake is 3 hours trek from Roing on top of the hill at 1600 meters altitude.
Golden Mahseer (Tor putitora) an indigenous fish species is regarded as the most sought after fish by the hobbyist anglers and tourists. The population of the fish species has been declining in the natural distribution areas.
Considering the rapid trend of declination of this fish species, the government of Arunachal Pradesh has declared this fish species as the 'State Fish'.
On the backdrop of need of conservation approach for this species and other Mahseer, the Directorate of Coldwater Fisheries Research (ICAR), Bhimtal carried out a feasibility study from 2003 to 2010 for development of Mahseer fishery for Mehao Lake.
Under the study, the trial introduction of Chocolate Mahseer (Neolissochilus hexagonolepis) resulted in successful rehabilitation of the species as it was found to have established expanding population in the lake through natural reproduction.
On receiving successful result of rehabilitation of Chocolate Mahseer, the rehabilitation of Golden Mahseer in the same lake was approved by the DCFR (ICAR) after the provocation from the recipient of the Rufford Small Grants Foundation, London.
Under the programme, a total of 3000 numbers of seed of Golden Mahseer were provided by the DCFR through air courier from Delhi to Dibrugarh on 12th October, 2011 to be released in Mehao Lake.
The rehabilitation of Golden Mahseer was accomplished in Sally Lake also, situated 3 km far from Roing on 18th October with the help of DFDO, Roing, and with the endorsement of Deputy Commissioner, Roing.

ITANAGAR, Oct 21: Arunachal Teachers’ Association (ATA) and staff and students of Government Middle School, Borum deeply mourns the sudden demise of Tayek Ketan who died at Guwahati yesterday.
He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter and was a sincere and dedicated teacher.
Late Tayek joined the education department in 1989 and was working as junior teacher at Government Middle School, Borum.

36 hrs Shutter down
ITANAGAR, Oct 21: Itanagar Market Welfare Association (IMWA) has decided carry out 36 hrs shutters down strike from October 26 in its jurisdiction.

Contractor demands clearance of bills
ITANAGAR, Oct 21: All Arunachal Registered Contractor Association Papum Pare District Unit demanded the state government particularly PWD and UD Minister to release the pending bills of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission Scheme and other pending bills within this month.
It claimed that the works has been completed by the contractors as per the stipulated time. But till today the concerned authority could not clear the bills.

ANVYF demands arrest of NES president
ITANAGAR, Oct 21: Holding Nyishi Elite Society (NES) president Bengia Tolum responsible for the unprecedented October 11 incidents in the state Capital, All Nyishi Volunteer Youth Federation (ANVYF) has demanded the Home Minister to arrest the NES president immediately under appropriate section of the law.
Beside death of a youth in firing incident the day was marred by violent activities like burning of cars, two wheelers and stone pelting.
It alleged that the bandh was sponsored by NES in correlation with Arunachal Pradesh Indigenous Tribes’ Union (APITU).
“We also demand Tolum’s immediate resignation from the post of NES president for his alleged involvement in political activities for personal score and creating division among Nyishi community,” it added.
Meanwhile, All Arunachal Youngstar United Federation (AAYUF) has appealed to the police and para military forces deployed in capital complex to treat all equally while maintaining law and order situation.

I would like to extend my support to Mr. Dominic’s letter published on 18th Oct, regarding 11th Oct incident in the Capital Complex. It is rightly said that we being peacemakers should not be like a trouble maker, instead guide others on the way of truth and the life.
I was surprise to see that few members from my own local Baptist Church were actively
participating in throwing stones at their own brothers who were standing in the opposite
side. At my first sight I could not believe it. They were the ones who attend church
every Sunday, worshiping and praying for healing, prosperity and peace. Their behavior
was like an Anti-
Tomorrow, you may forget about the mistakes you made today but remember that its scar will remain as long as you live in this world.
I would like to request all the senior leaders of Arunachal Christian Forum (ACF), Nyishi Baptist Church Council (NBCC) and Arunachal Pradesh Christian Revival Church Council (APCRCC) to look into this matter seriously. on Oct 18, I would like to place before our interested readers few facts which seems

At the very outset, I would like to beg pardon from the general readers for my lack
of words to define the people, anti-
The article is directly an insult to the Adi people and its culture. It is to be clarified that the meeting as stated seems not to have been conducted in the name of Bogum Bokang Kebang. In no banner or poster, informing the Pessing meeting was the words 'Bogum Bokang Kebang' used or printed. However, as per the tradition and culture, the meeting is to be considered certainly to be a Bogum Bokang Kebang because of the participation of almost all the Banggos of Siang Valley. Questioning the credibility of the said Kebang is akin to questioning the tradition and culture of Adis.
As regard to the Adi Bane Kebang, the President of the ABK himself was present in
the meeting and had accepted the need of the Bogum Bokang Kebang. In times of dire
circumstances like the one which the whole of Adis are undergoing with sleepless
nights today, that was the reason for the President, Adi Bane Kebang to declare that

From rhetoric to reality
Dear Editor,
Elvin Yobin, in his letter titled "Arunachal and discrimination"( 20 October), has asked the students of Arunachal Pradesh, studying in different parts of India, to remain united so as to prevent attacks against the community as has been witnessed in Karnataka recently. Though the proposal of Yobin is definitely welcome, but perhaps such step is not enough. When Indian students were being attacked in Australia, the Union Government immediately contacted its Aussie counterpart and angrily voiced its concern. Similarly it is the duty of Arunachal Pradesh Government to protest the barbaric incident and sternly ask its Karnataka counterpart to provide adequate protection to the Arunachal students. Also the AP Government should bring this incident to the notice of the Indian Government and ask the authorities to promote the statement of "India is for Indians" from rhetoric to reality.
Australia may have seen few attacks against the Indian students, but that "alien" nation was ensured that the criminals be promptly brought to book. In the same vein, it is sincerely hoped that the Karnataka authorities would also ensure justice to the assaulted Arunachal students, who are not only very much an integral part of this nation only, but whose right over Karnataka is not a bit less than an ethnic Kannadiga.

Food Corporation was finally established at Itanagar in 2009. The FCI authority then
announced that 150 + posts would be created for employment of local Arunachlees.
